Our story
The journal started in 1927 as Zpráva o činnosti československé zoologické společnosti za léta 1927–1932. Since 1933, the Society has edited the scientific journal Věstník československé společnosti zoologické, the name of which changed in 1990 to Acta Societatis Zoologicae Bohemoslovacae and in 1993 to the present name. Contributions were at first written in Czech. Since 1990 all contributions are in English.
It is a direct continuation of:
(i) Vol. 1 (1927–1932): Zpráva o činnosti československé zoologické společnosti za léta 1927–1932;
(ii) Vol. 2–53 (1933–1989): Věstník československé společnosti zoologické (Věst. Čs. Společ. Zool.);
(iii) Vol. 54–56 (1990–1992): Acta Societatis Zoologicae Bohemoslovacae (Acta Soc. Zool. Bohemoslov.);
(iv) Vol. 57–89 (1993–2025): Acta Societatis Zoologicae Bohemicae (Acta Soc. Zool. Bohem.).

Acta Societatis Zoologicae Bohemicae publishes in English original papers on general, applied and systematic zoology, and biographies. It is understood that manuscripts submitted are not offered to any other journal for prior or simultaneous publication. ASZB is an open access journal. Papers are published free of charge, first as online PDFs and subsequently (twice a year) in printed version. Authors of taxonomic papers must respect the articles of International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (Fourth Edition, 2000, available from: https://www.iczn.org/) and observe its recommendations. All articles are peer-reviewed typically by two reviewers. Peer review is defined as obtaining advice on individual manuscripts from reviewers expert in the field. Peer review process is closed and single-blind, the authors do not know who the reviewers are.
Manuscript should be structured as follows
Title of paper, full name(s) of author(s), place of work with full address, e-mail (e-mail is optional), ORCID full link (ORCID is optional and recommended) – on separate line. Abstract summarizing concisely the contents of the paper and indicating the relevance of the work, should not exceed 20 type-writen lines. Key words. Select a set (one or two lines) of key words (index terms). References. Within the text – Dryden (1968), (Lattin 1967), Kummari & Nair (1967), Tamiro et al. (1970), the full citation should be given in the list of references. Under the References authors should be cited in full periodical name. The number is to be given (in parentheses) only when individual numbers are paginated inde pendently (see example b). References to papers published in languages other than the major ones, or printed in characters other than Latin, should be content English translation, with an appropriate note at the end (see examples e, f, g). Graphics
Figures needs to be composed in plates. The minimal resolution required (at the size of publication): 600 dpi for line-art, graphs and schemes, at least 300 dpi for photos. (High resolution plates are only needed after the manuscript is accepted, but please be sure you have them ready). Graphics should be saved in Tagged Image Format (TIF) Plate size should not exceed 176 mm × 250 mm. In plates not filling the complete height of the page, ca. 50 mm of height needs to be left for the text on the same page. Also keep some space for the figure legend! References to illustrations and tables in the text: Fig. 1; Figs 1–2; Plate 1, Fig. 1 (for photographic plates); Table 1; Tab. 1; Tabs 1–2.
Proofs
Author(s) will receive one set of proofs, and will be asked to approve the final version of the paper before being published.
